On Wednesday, September 18, we showcased Hampton to The Anyang Korea-U.S. Friendship Association. City of Hampton Mayor Donnie Tuck, Vice Mayor Jimmy Gray, Councilman Steve Brown, Councilman Bowman, Councilwoman Harper, City Manager Mary Bunting, Economic Development Director Leonard Sledge, and Sister Cities of Hampton Board members toured various historic attractions and enjoyed a friendship luncheon.
The delegation's first exposure to Hampton's rich history was a tour of Langley Air Force Base, one of the oldest continuously active air bases in the United States. They were elated to see firsthand an F15. The group was equally impressed by a touring of the Virginia Air & Space Center—the official visitor center for NASA Langley Research Center and Langley Air Force Base. Sister Cities of Hampton's President Dianne Foster said, "We are so grateful to have Sean Chu serve as Sister Cities of Hampton's Vice President and Committee Chair of Anyang, South Korea. His love of both communities and his excellent translating ability allows us to have meaningful dialog with our visiting delegation." |
